Where it happened

This photo was taken in Oradour sur Glane's church.
This french village is famous because of it's tragic story ; on August 10th of 1944, the nazis had to raid a village to kill it's inhabitants and destroy it. To "leave a message". Oradour was on their way to the camp, so they just asked some "good citizens" for intel about the place, and then attacked it.
The village was more crowded than the other days, as it was a saturday. On this day, a lot of people come from around the little commerçant town to buy tobacco, this kind of things. It is also the day where childrens where sent at school. 
The nazis separated the village in two groups : The men, and the women and childrens. 
They then leaded the men to different barns around the town, and the others into the church. 
They where calm, they haven't done anything wrong. 
Then, the general gave the signal, and the men where executed, shot with machine guns, then covered in flammable things by the few survivors, under the nazi's orders, and burned. 
The women and childrens where asphyxiated by the use of smoke bombs, then the survivors where shot, then the roof was blowed up, and finally, they set fire to the corpses.
They then proceeded to burn and scavenge the whole village.
On this picture, you can see the bullets holes on the wall on the right.
A lot of them has been shot in the place this picture was taken, it is here that I saw most of the bullets holes on the walls.
